Friday Evening
PARIS FRANCE

Dear Mother and Dad,
I'm in Paris now, at a school on the educational program the Army hopes to put into effect when the war in Europe is over. The school will be over tomorrow at noon. I'll be glad to get back to work again. I guess I've had to much school already.
We don't get to much daylight time for sightseeing. Typically - any night life is tremendously expensive. One hundred dollars wouldn't get you a very wild evening. Europeans haven't lost their knack of trimming Americans. Personally, I can get along without what they have to offer.
The Army operates a beautiful "Officer's Mess". If they have proper orders, officers like us can get two meals a week there. It's crowed with women from the streets of Paris, French Officers with their families; Poles , Czechs, English etc.. They have to be careful to snub us so this foreign aggregation gets fed. We are suppose to eat out here at the school.
Looking back over this letter , I see it seems full of complaints. Maybe I'm just feeling a little sour this evening.
