FRANCE
Dear Mother and Dad,
I just got back from church in the village. The church is a plaster and paint imitation of the great Italian churches. It leads me to believe that these little villages were probably a great deal more important 400 years ago. Just like in Italy the attendance was chiefly children and women, except for some American soldiers.
The weather has been intermittently cloudy and cold - but today it is sunny and pleasant. Just as it was two weeks ago - I haven't been doing much to earn my money.
I'm still getting letters telling how worried you are about me. The trouble is that you always seem to 'know' just what the action I am in the thick of. Don't use your imagination so much.
I got the box of Christmas baking last week. Thanks - it arrived in pretty good shape. Sometime would you break the lock in that trunk I sent home and dig out the two military brushes in the leather case. Over here I dress quite well. I've worn my best uniform more than I ever did in the United States.
It's about time to eat now, so I'll say goodbye.
