ITALY
 
Dear Mother and Dad,
          You might be surprised when you note the address. I guess I will have seen Italy pretty thoroughly before the war is over.
          We are in a picturesque part of the country, and it is beautiful right now. Spring is just getting well under way. There are a lot of small hotels scattered around: on the valley floors, on raising ground, and sometimes perched up very high. There are also the ruins of old castles dominating roads at strategic points. They well have belonged to robber barons.
          The days are much longer now- the time changed today- and that made an hour's difference right away.
          Several hours have elapsed since the last paragraph was written. It's about 10:30 now (P.M.) , so I'll say goodnight.
